Kids Acting Classes (Ages 9-14)

with Maggie Borden

Maggie Borden is a recent graduate of the Stella Adler Summer Conservatory. She has studied acting in New York City and London, England and received her BA in Theatre from Wofford College. She has also taught children acting classes for many years. (9‑15 yrs)

This class focuses on creative thinking and imagination. Working in groups at Improv, theatre games, mime, and mask work, children learn to use these modalities to create characters and learn to trust their instincts. These skills are critical for stage and are completely transferable to real life.

Adult Scene Study

Analysis and discovery through 2 person scenes, with a focus on listening, reacting and personal motivation. We will put into practice basic concepts learned in Acting 101 such as objective, given circumstance, the moment before, relationships and obstacles. Opportunity for actors to develop individually, learn to support and be present with your fellow actor on stage, share observations and constructive feedback in an open environment.

Strongly suggested that those who take this class take Adult Acting 101 first

Acting 101 - Beginners

Acting 101 focuses on fundamentals of Acting for the new actor or one who wants to brush up on skills. Consisting of how to approach a script, find the objective, given circumstance, creating the moment before, discovery of relationships and obstacles. This work will revolve around in class exercises, working on a monologue and through peer discussion.

Acting 102 - Advanced

with Mark Gorman, SAG, AEA

Neal Lerner

As Chair, New York City's School for Film and Television's Professional Acting Division, Neal Lerner share's special on-camera techniques for monologues and commercial copy.
