Summer in the City - A month-long artistic residency for emerging South
Carolina Talent, where we reside at the Juilliard school. Instruction and mentorship are offered in
five disciplines: Theatre, Musical Theatre, Dance, Instruments, and Classical Voice. Scholarships available
and awarded on a talent and as needed basis. SOBTC awards between $13,500 - $20,000 per year
Play Fest - A month-long play festival every September, in partnership with
the Olde North Charleston, Merchant's Association, North Charleston Cultural ARts, and local business.
This festival fosters new works by writers from across the country. It is the only play festival in
Charleston
Opera Zone - This program seeks to nurture and support
low country classical singers through lectures, workshops and public performances
ShowBiz School - Professional instruction for all ages, some scholarships are available
based on talent and need.
Outreach Program - South of Broadway Theatre Company's outreach to
the Tri-County School Districts and its teachers. These programs are offered Pro Bono to the
school districts, and include:
- Action workshops for the at-risk and under served using the theatre model
- Enhancing literacy through the theatre models
- Mentoring educators on literacy standards
- Educators workshops to implement theatre model into literacy curriculum
- Playwright workshops used as a tool for social integration for at-risk youth
