Greater Park Circle Play Fest

Saturdays in September

South of Broadway Theatre Company, in collaboration with the Olde North Charleston Merchants Association, hosted the first annual playwrights’ festival in North Charleston during September 2008.

Each Saturday evening there were activities throughout North Charleston’s historic business district on East Montague (between Park Circle and Virginia Ave). Examples include:

• Poetry readings
• Themed-menus at restaurants
• Typewriter plays
• Five plays were presented in staged readings at
  South of Broadway Theatre Co. Studios, 1080 E. Montague.

Merchants participating in the Greater Park Circle Play Fest donated a percentage of their revenue from those evenings to help a qualified student from North Charleston High School or Morningside participate in the New York City summer program offered by South of Broadway Theatre Co.
