2008 Participant Bios

 

Helena Ball, Age 13 - Theatre Major
From Charleston County School of the Arts has worked with Actors' Theatre of South Carolina and Charleston Stage. She was recently Schroeder in South of Broadway Theatre Company's ShowBiz School production of "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown". She is a straight A student, an SC Junior Scholar, Johns Hopkins and UVAGT Program. She looks forward to moving to NY or LA where she can study film and theatre.

Kaylan Becker, Age - 14 Musical Theatre Major
Attends Fort Dorchester High School. She has been involved with South of Broadway Theatre Company's ShowBiz School productions of "Nightmare till New Years!" and was recently Lady Lucille in "Once Upon a Mattress" at her school. She was nominated "Student of the Year in '06/07 and won Highest Academic Average in 1st Grade. She looks forward to further her musical studies this summer in NY and would like to be on Broadway when she finishes college.

Erik Brower, 16 - Musical Theatre
He attends Summerville High School. He enjoys playing the guitar, playing sports and writing stories. He is interested in pursuing his 'big break' in movies and TV but expects to finish college first!

Sarah Callahan, 17 - Dance
Goes to Summerville High School. She has appeared with Broadway Express roupe, Robert Ivey Ballet, SHS Dance and Theatre, Charleston Live! And others. Sarah enjoys writing, filmmaking and living at the beach. She plans to pursue a career in musical theatre in 'anyway she can!' She is considering attending College of Charleston as a theatre major OR moving you NYC.

Jodye Carroll, 17 - Musical Theatre
Is from Wando High School. She has performed Rusty in "Footloose" with her school and has an impressive list of performances with Charleston Stage. She is an Honor Role Student and a member of the Wando High School Marching Band. She plans to be a theatre, or musical theatre major at college and intends to get her degree before she goes to NYC to pursue a life and career.

Nova Gilliard, 17 -- Theatre
Is a senior at Wando High School. He recently discovered the world of theatre and has distinguished himself immediately. He wrote the monologue with which he auditioned for "Summer in the City," the judges were impressed with his talent, passion and focus and decided he deserved a scholarship to study in New York. Nova enjoys sports such as basketball and track and intends to get his college degree before pursuing his dreams of a career in theatre, TV and film.

Michelle Query, 14 - Musical Theatre
Is in her first year at Stratford High School, where she is in all honors courses. Michelle has been involved with South of Broadway Theatre Company's ShowBiz School productions of "Nightmare Until New Years" and was recently "Lucy" in their production of "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown." She enjoys snow skiing, swimming and ice-skating. She expects to pursue a degree in musical theatre during college and then wants to live and work in New York City.

Caroline Todd, 12 - Theatre
Goes to Northwood Academy. She recently moved here from Missoula, Montana, where she performed with Looking Glass Theatre, Missoula Children's Theatre and Yokota Players. She performed "Tinker Bell" with Flowertown Players production of "Peter Pan." She likes to play volley ball and traveling. She plans to get her theatre degree during college.

Corinne Tyo 17, - Theatre
Attends Summerville High School. She has done a number of roles with Flowertown theatre and other companies. She has received the Board of Trustees Award and state competition medals in Marching Band. Hobbies are knitting and making baby hats for newborns. Corinne intends to study theatre in college and would be interested in attending Syracuse, Ithaca, NYU of Juilliard.

Hunter Watson, 17 - Musical Theatre
Hunter attends Dorchester Academy, in St. George, SC. He has a long list of major roles since his mother, Lynee, runs the local theatre! He is a Duke TIP scholar and has been both a Junior Beta Club Officer and Beta Club Member. He loves watching classic movies and visiting New York. During college he will pursue a theatre degree and then expects to move to New York City to pursue a theatrical career.

Evan Woods, 17, Theatre
Is a senior at Wando High School. He has appeared as Edmund at The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Colin in "The Secret Garden," Alladin in "Alladin" and "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" all with Charleston Stage. He likes to play soccer, swim, jog and plays piano, guitar and drums. He wants to go college in Washington DC so he can be involved in local theatres there and then eventually live in New York, Chicago or LA to pursue a career in acting.
